Angela Nelson has great passion and enthusiasm for helping others. Professionally, she’ll be celebrating 10 years with Amway this year. She is currently an Assistant Brand Manager leading the New IBO Experience on the Opportunity Brand Marketing team in Amway North America. She’s responsible for developing and implementing brand strategy and marketing plans that increases relevance of Amway and engages a younger audience for the Amway Business Opportunity.
A native of Flint, Michigan, Angela made her way to West Michigan in 1998 when she enrolled at Grand Valley State University. In 2003, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems with a minor in Computer Information Systems. Several years later she went on to earn a Master of Business Administration in Integrative Management from Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business.
Angela’s true passion is the West Michigan community. She’s known for taking an active interest in her community and has served in various leadership positions within the nonprofit sector. Her leadership on various committees and boards includes the Grand Rapids Chamber ATHENA Committee, the YWCA Tribute! and Helen Claytor Leadership Fund Committee, the Baxter Community Center Major Gifts Committee and the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Tour Experience (HBCUTE) Board to name a few. And most recently she was elected President of the Grand Rapids Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. a service and social action oriented sorority. Also passionate about social justice issues, Angela co-chairs PROACTIVE, an election protection coalition that takes an integral role in removing barriers to voter registration and mobilization as well as protecting the purity of the election process.
